Fleet upgrade with new Volvo FH Globetrotter with I-Save

More torque and less fuel

We have recently upgraded our fleet with new Volvo FH Globetrotter with I-Save and have found the new trucks are dramatically reducing our fuel consumption on long haul. Our drivers are very enthusiastic about their driveability especially the faster torque response from the powertrain. All we hear is ‘it’s a great drive!’ which is good for our team and morale.

Andrew Tucknott said ‘The more we can save on fuel with the FH I-Save trucks, the better it is for our customers. Being able to drive at lower revs and higher gear for longer periods also makes for a smoother and quieter drive. All in all, upgrading the fleet will provide longer term efficiency benefits for Tomsetts as well as being better for the environment.’

New Volvo FE for urban deliveries

Upgrades have also included adding a smaller Volvo FE which is more compact and built for pick-ups and deliveries in urban areas. It has street wise styling with V-shaped lights, more generous window areas to spot cyclists, and a low cab giving the driver a better feel of the street environment.

Tomsetts long-term commitment

This is part of our long-term commitment to running a modern fleet for increased reliability, efficiency, maintenance cost savings, driver contentment and the safety of other road users.

The newer the vehicles, the lower the emissions. With diesel costs soaring throughout last year it has been continual pressure in the road haulage industry said the RHA.
