Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, expanding our client base, and driving revenue growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong sales and relationship-building skills, who can navigate the competitive landscape of the road haulage industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Identify and target new business opportunities within the road haulage and logistics sector.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company growth targets.
- Conduct market research to understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, providing customized logistics solutions.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients to maximize profitability and secure long-term partnerships.
Sales Strategy and Execution:
- Develop and execute effective sales strategies to meet and exceed revenue and growth targets.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns and sales materials.
- Track and analyse sales performance metrics, preparing regular reports for senior management.
Networking and Partnerships:
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to build industry contacts and promote the company’s services.
- Establish partnerships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, transport operators, and industry organizations.
Market Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for business expansion.
- Prepare detailed business development reports and presentations for senior management.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in business development, sales, or a similar role within the road haulage or logistics industry.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
- Strong understanding of road haulage operations, logistics solutions, and industry regulations.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyse market trends and customer needs to develop effective sales strategies.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
