Tomsetts Distribution has taken another step in expanding its commercial vehicle services with the introduction of coach servicing, maintenance and inspections at its Newhaven workshop.
The new service has been developed to meet growing demand from coach operators across Sussex, building on the company’s experienced workshop team, modern facilities and commitment to delivering the same high standards of service that customers have come to expect from Tomsetts.
The opportunity arose when Eastbourne Coaches Ltd contacted Tomsetts after discovering the business through one of Managing Director Andrew Tucknott’s online videos. Andrew explained, “Sometimes business development is simply about being ready when opportunity knocks.”
The timing could not have been better. Tomsetts had already identified coach maintenance as an area for growth and, with the expertise of workshop technician Lee Hamlet, was preparing to offer specialist servicing and inspections for coach operators.
The first Eastbourne Coaches vehicle soon arrived at the Newhaven workshop, marking the start of what both companies hope will be a long and successful relationship.
Shortly afterwards, Tomsetts welcomed a brand-new Yutong GT12 53-seat coach into the workshop for its pre-fleet inspection before entering passenger service.
Carrying out comprehensive inspections on new vehicles helps ensure everything is operating exactly as it should before the coach begins transporting passengers, providing reassurance for operators and supporting long-term reliability.
Andrew said, “It’s always satisfying to be trusted with a vehicle straight from the manufacturer. Our workshop team takes great pride in making sure every vehicle leaves us ready to perform at its very best.”
