Six new Volvo FH Aero trucks investment supports our Net Zero journey
Tomsetts Distribution has strengthened its commitment to sustainable logistics with the arrival of six new Volvo FH Aero 6×2 Globetrotter XL trucks, representing another significant investment in the company’s long-term environmental strategy.
The new vehicles form part of Tomsetts’ ongoing On the Road to Net Zero programme, helping to improve fuel efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and deliver greater value for customers through a modern, reliable fleet.

For Tomsetts, investing in sustainability is driven by evidence rather than assumption. Having measured its greenhouse gas emissions, the company identified that approximately 90% of its emissions are generated through diesel consumption, making fleet efficiency one of the most effective ways to reduce its environmental impact.
Andrew Tucknott, Managing Director of Tomsetts Distribution, said:
“We’ve calculated that around 90% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from diesel use, so maximising the efficiency of our fleet is paramount to reducing our environmental impact.
The Volvo FH Aero will be a key component in our ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and Net Zero by 2040. These trucks will deliver real fuel savings to help us cut emissions while also showing our customers that we’re serious about sustainability.”
Investing in the future
The introduction of the new Volvo FH Aero fleet is part of a wider programme of investment designed to ensure Tomsetts remains at the forefront of a rapidly evolving logistics industry.
By analysing operational data and targeting areas where emissions can be reduced most effectively, the business is making informed decisions that benefit both the environment and its customers.
Alongside its ambitious targets of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 and Net Zero by 2040, Tomsetts continues to invest in cleaner technologies, more efficient operations and practical initiatives that support long-term sustainable growth.
Delivering more than environmental benefits
Modern, fuel-efficient vehicles not only help reduce emissions but also improve operational reliability and lower running costs. These efficiencies enable Tomsetts to continue providing dependable transport services while preparing for the changing demands of the logistics industry.
The investment also demonstrates the company’s confidence in the future and its commitment to supporting customers with a transport partner that is planning for tomorrow as well as delivering today.
As environmental expectations continue to grow, Tomsetts believes that investing in efficiency is not simply the right thing to do—it is essential to building a stronger, more resilient business for the years ahead.
